  • AQL4-Level 4

    Skills Include: compact and stride dives from the side of the pool; swim under water; feet-first surface dive and retrieve an object; open turns on front and back; tread water 2 minutes; survival swimming 1 minute; dolphin kick; and more. Strokes Include: front crawl, elementary backstroke, back crawl, breaststroke, and sidestroke. Exit Skills Assessments:- 1. Perform a feet-first entry into deep water and swim front crawl for 25 yards and then swim elementary backstroke for 25 yards. 2. Swim breaststroke for 15 yards and then swim back crawl for 15 yards. 3. Submerge and swim a distance of 3-5 body lengths underwater without hyperventilating; return to the surface; then exit the water. Prerequisites: Successfully demonstrate Level-3 skills. ~Please bring goggles~
  • AQL5-Level 5

    Skills Include: long shallow-angle dive from the side of the pool; head-first surface dives and retrieve objects; front and back crawl flip turns; tread water 5 minutes; sculling; and more. Strokes include: front crawl, elementary backstroke, back crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, and butterfly. Exit Skills Assessments:- 1. Perform a shallow-angle dive into deep water; swim front crawl for 50 yards and then swim elementary backstroke 50 yards. 2. Swim breaststroke for 50 yards and then swim back crawl for 50 yards. Prerequisites: Successfully demonstrate Level-4 skills. ~Please bring goggles~
  • AQL6-Level 6

    This course is ideal for participants that might be preparing for a competitive team or perhaps have completed Level-5 but are not able to take a/the lifeguarding course yet. Skills Include: HELP & huddle positions 2 minutes each; back float and survival float 5 minutes each; survival swimming 10 minutes; sculling feet-first and head-first; surface dives; race starts; open turns and flip turns; circle swimming; using a pace clock; swimming using equipment; and more. Strokes include: front crawl and elementary backstroke 100 yards each; back crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, and butterfly 50 yards each. Prerequisites: Successfully demonstrate Level-5 skills. ~Please bring goggles~
  • AQSP-Semi Private Lessons

    Students (from Bobbers through Level-6) learn skills and strokes in smaller groups (typically just 1-2 per instructor). Participants will work towards earning a passing certificate once their level has been determined: usually on the first or second day. Please call the pool office at (651) 460-1515 with questions. Please bring goggles if Level-3 or higher.

    Abrakadoodle Adventures in Art Grades K-5 Sample lots of different kinds of art in this fun and creative camp. We’ll use paper mâché, clay, canvas, chalk, paint and more to create some fabulous art. Make a colorful paper mâché donut, sculpt some silly snails, learn how to make prints with your own print plate, paint a canvas, and more. Bring a beverage and a nut-free snack. Register early, this camp is sure to fill quickly.

    Abrakadoodle Grades K-5 Add a splash of color to your spring with this fun art class. Let creativity inspire you to create a colorful canvas inspired by Peter Max’s Pop art, watercolor cute lady bugs. Draw a koala bear in tree and finish it with chalk and sculpt a little lion pot.

    Abrakadoodle Ages 5-11 Do you like to make cool crafts? Sculpt with clay? Draw cartoons? Then you should join us for this creative camp. We’ll sculpt a pink piggie and a tiny turtle, learn to draw cartoons, create a comic strip, make cute cactus in painted clay pots, a paper mâché bowl, and have tons of fun.

    Grab your kiddo and join us for a morning of cookie decorating. Enjoy step by step instructions including learning how to outline and flood your cookies. Each person will leave with a set of beautifully decorated cookies as well as a personalized cookie made especially for them! All supplies are included. Registration is per person.

  • Adult Pottery Throwing

    This course will introduce students to the proper handling and care for clay. We will learn and practice how to center the clay on the potter's wheel, as well as how to make specific shapes. At the end of the course, each student will have 3-5 pieces created and glazed. Students will be contacted after class to pick up their fired pieces.
  • Adult Woodworking for Beginners to Advanced

    Paul Landwehr is a retired Industrial Arts Woodworking Instructor. His concept for this class is to allow beginners & advanced students to learn woodworking at their level. Each student will choose a project based on their skill level after speaking with Paul. Student supplies needed include: wood materials, wood glue, sandpaper, and eye and ear protection. Other supplies/materials will be discussed when you speak with Paul. All of the supplies/materials needed to complete the project must be supplied by the student. Call Paul before the start of class to discuss your project ideas and skill level at (651) 757-5705 between 7-9pm. This is not a refinishing class, nor a mass production/assembly line class.
  • Adult, Child, and Infant CPR and First Aid

    Blended Learning - online classroom instruction and hands-on CPR instruction This course will prepare you to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children and infants and meets OSHA/workplace requirements. This is a blended learning course including an online portion and an instructor-led classroom skill session. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-class portion and must be taken on a PC or tablet with a high speed Internet connection. Allow approximately 2 hours 30 minutes to complete the online portion. Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a digital certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years.

    All classes are held at Dodge Middle School. Farmington Community Education Aquatics programs provide parents and children with important and useful information about strokes, skills, and water safety. We help teach people to swim, to be safer in, on and around water., and what to do in the event of an emergency.

    Sarah Erickson This 5-hour course is designed for youth ages 11-15. Red Cross babysitting courses are a great way to develop the necessary emergency and safety skills that parents are seeking. What you’ll learn: Basic care for infants and children, including Feeding, Handling and Diapering. Basic First Aid Child Behavior Age-Appropriate Activities Emergency Protocols Leadership and Professionalism Developing a Babysitting Business. Each participant will receive a Red Cross Babysitter Handbook. Upon completion each participant will receive a “digital diploma” which you can print and place in your portfolio or pull up anytime via QR code and confirm validity.     Tracy Crofoot Grades K-5 Backyard Birds camp is a great summer activity for your bird enthusiast! Campers will go on a journey of discovery and learn about Minnesota’s most common backyard bird species. They will learn about bird identification, habitats, diet, behavior, and migration. Weather permitting, campers will get ‘back to nature’ by venturing outside making their own observations and discoveries just like a naturalist! We will be taking a survey of local bird species and report our findings to local scientists. Campers will learn more about becoming a Citizen Scientist and how they can contribute to conservation too.
