    2's and 3's Must be 24- 48 months What can you expect from your little one now that your child is getting a little older? Learn reasons why one minute your child is a "little adult" and the next minute is falling apart. Learn the ways you can help them learn the skills they need to cope with day to day life. Discuss ways one can encourage when children cooperate and options for parents to aid in a "peaceful" household. The parents will separate for the discussion time. Childcare is available for preschool siblings.

    3's and Up

    3's and Up Must be 3 years Your child will be given the chance to explore, experiment, investigate and interact with others. Circle time will include books, educational games and other preschool learning opportunities. In your Parent discussion group, you will be able to choose topics of interest to the group, along with learning how to help your child in their exploration. Parent(s)/guardian(s) will go to a separate room for discussion time. Registration is necessary for childcare of preschool siblings. We are excited that our classes are filling fast. If you find that the class that you desire is full, please register on the wait list. We may have enough to add an additional class! Questions call 651-460-3200?   • ACT Prep Class

    ACT Prep Classes Advantage Educational Programs Grades 10-12 The ACT Preparatory Courses are designed for those who wish to improve their test-taking skills and their overall scores on the college entrance exams. The course includes diagnostic testing, strategies for answering questions in all testing areas, instruction in time management, essay writing, and more. Youth can choose to attend classes located at Farmington High School, online, or at other area schools. In-School Course Students preferring the traditional teaching format with an in-person instructor should choose this course. It consists of four, three-hour classes, meeting at a specific location, one day a week. Students who miss a class will be provided with access to recorded virtual online instruction. Tuition for the 12-hour ACT in-person course is $180, with all class materials included. Students can also repeat the course online at any time, until they graduate, free of charge. To enroll at Farmington High School - returning Fall 2024 To enroll in an ACT course at another site - please visit https://advantageprep.net/ Once you are registered, you will be contacted by email or phone with your classroom assignment approximately 7-10 days before classes begin. Virtual Course This course is designed for students who prefer to prep for the ACT in a virtual classroom. Four, three-hour classes are taught live via zoom by an Advantage instructor. Tuition for this course is $180. Internet connection and a computer or tablet is required. This course can also be repeated at no extra charge. To enroll for the virtual course - select YS24-ACT925 Self-Paced Online Course This course is designed for students preferring to prepare for the ACT exam on their own schedule and at their own pace. Instruction is pre-recorded and provided online using videos and slides. Once enrolled, students may use the access code they receive to navigate through the course on their own timeline throughout the year. Tuition for this course is $80. To enroll for the online course - select YW24-ACTONLINE888. **Please note, students need a gmail account to access course information. School-issued email addresses are blocked. To create a free account click here. Once enrolled, students are sent an access code for their class via email and can begin preparing. Participants will receive more information regarding class access in their course registration confirmation. Online course materials are available at any time and are accessible for a full year, however, you can re-enroll to access the course again, free of charge.

    Our staff will continue to guide and practice social distancing, sanitation, health and safety skills as required by the MN Dept. of Health, and MN Dept. of ED and CDC. Preschool students will not be required to wear masks or to social distance, but adults (parents) in the building will be required to wear a mask and a shield. Adults will still be required to social distance.

  • AQAD-Adaptive Swim Lessons

    This program provides a safe learning environment for students with mild disabilities. Most of the students we help are neurodivergent or are on the autism spectrum and have an IEP with their school district. While students follow the outlines from one of our swimming levels, modifications are made to strokes and skills as necessary. A specially designed hydraulic lift is available if necessary. Please contact the Aquatics Coordinator to discuss your child's special needs. This helps us prepare to teach the safest and most appropriate lessons possible.

  • AQAK-Aqua Kids (parent & child)

    Aqua Kids is intended for 2, 3, and 4 year-olds that are new to swim lessons AND need to have an adult in the water with them. This class does not teach the children how to swim on their own. Its purpose is to familiarize participants with the water and teach some swimming readiness skills. It is intended to get the children comfortable in a swimming pool atmosphere and get them interested and excited about coming to lessons on their own. Parents will learn some holding and support techniques and learn how and when to use cueing techniques. Other skills range from water adjustment to movement in the water with support to some independent movement. Guided sessions help students (parent & child) learn some elementary skills including: water entry and exit; bubble blowing; bobbing; opening eyes under water; front and back floats; front and back glides; rolling over with assistance from the parent; arm & leg actions on their front; arm & leg actions on their back; life jackets; and more. An adult must be in the water with each student.
  • AQBP-Bobbers / Preschool

    This course is intended for 2, 3, and 4 year-olds that are new to swim lessons. This class is quite similar to Aqua Kids but is for children that are able to participate without the assistance from an adult. Skills Include: water entry and exit; bubble blowing; floats; glides; kicking; rolling over; life jackets; and more. Exit Skills Assessment:- 1. Enter independently using the steps or side; travel 5 yards; submerge to mouth and blow bubbles for 3-5 seconds; then safely exit the water. 2. While in shallow water, glide on front 2-3 body lengths then roll on back and float on back for 3-5 seconds; then recover to a vertical position. Prerequisites: ages 2 to 4 and comfortable in the water without assistance from an adult.
  • AQL1-Level 1

    Level-1: Introduction to Water Skills- Orients students to the aquatic environment and helps them gain basic aquatic skills. It helps students begin to develop positive attitudes, effective swimming habits, and safe practices in and around the water. Most skills are done with some support from either the instructor or some equipment. This class is basically the same as Bobbers-2 but is intended for children 5 and older. Most skills are done with some support from either the instructor or or some equipment. Skills Include: water entry and exit; bobbing, open eyes underwater and retrieve objects; floats; glides; roll over from front to back and back to front; combined stroke on front and back; life jackets; and more. Exit Skills Assessments:- 1. Enter independently using the steps or side; travel 5+ yards; bob 5 times; then safely exit the water. 2. Glide on front 2-3 body lengths; roll to a back float for 15 seconds; then recover to a vertical position. 3. Glide on back 2-3 body lengths; roll to front; then recover to a vertical position. 4. Swim using combined arm and leg actions on front for 3+ body lengths; roll onto back and float for 15 seconds; roll back onto front and continue swimming on front for 3+ body lengths. Prerequisites: comfortable in the water without assistance from an adult.
  • AQL2-Level 2

    This course helps increase comfort and movement in the water with less support. Skills Include: jump into shoulder-deep water; floats; glides; recover from floats and glides to a vertical position; change direction while swimming; rotary breathing; tread water 15 seconds; and more. Exit Skills Assessments:- 1. Step from side into chest-deep water; tread water for 15 seconds; swim on front or back for 5 body lengths; then exit the water. 2. Move into a back float for 15-20 seconds; roll to front; then recover to a vertical position. 3. Push off and swim using combined arm and leg actions on front for 5 body lengths; roll onto back and float for 15-20 seconds; roll back onto front and continue swimming on front for 5 body lengths. Prerequisites: Successfully demonstrate Level-1 skills.
  • AQL3-Level 3

    Skills Include: kneeling dive from the side of the pool; treading water; survival float; change from vertical position to front and back float and glide; while vertical- rotate one full turn; breaststroke, sidestroke and dolphin kicks; and more. Strokes Include: front crawl, back crawl, and elementary backstroke. Exit Skills Assessments:- 1. Jump into deep water from the side; recover to the surface; maintain position by treading or floating for 60 seconds; level off and swim front crawl 25 yards; rest for 30-60 seconds and swim back crawl 25 yards; then exit the water. 2. Push off in a streamlined position; swim front crawl for 15 yards; change position and direction as necessary; swim elementary backstroke for 15 yards; then exit the water. Prerequisites: Successfully demonstrate Level-2 skills. ~Please bring goggles~
  • AQL3.0-Prep for Level 3

    NEW COURSE This is intended to be a bridging course between Level-2 and (now) Level-3.1. Level-3.1 is simply the previously named (American Red Cross) Level-3 course. Because we have created a sort of "Pre Level-3" course that we are naming Level-3.0 Please call the pool office if you have any questions regarding these two course. This Level-3.0 is for those that "passed" Level-2 but need to build up some strength and endurance to be better able to participate in Level-3.1 Skills Include: treading water with arms and legs; front glide and add arms & legs; back glide and add arms & legs; swim on front with arms out of the water; swim on back with arms out of the water; whip kick; and more. Strokes Include: front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, and introduction to breaststroke. Exit Skills Assessments:- 1. Jump into deep water from the side; recover to the surface; maintain position by treading or floating for 30 seconds; swim on front crawl 10 yards; rest for 30 seconds and swim on back 10 yards; then exit the water. 2. Push off in a streamlined position; swim front crawl for 10 yards; change position and direction as necessary; swim elementary backstroke for 10 yards; then exit the water. Prerequisites: Successfully demonstrate Level-2 skills. ~Please bring goggles~
