  • Sparks Machine Sewing

    Diana Berg Incoming Grades 1-5 Come and learn new skills with your sewing machine! In this camp, youth will learn how to use a sewing machine to complete a standard size pillowcase, then they will use a pattern to create their very own pair of lounge pants, then the final project will cumulate with a letter pillow. Youth must bring their own sewing machine. There are a few available to borrow. Email youthenrichment@farmington.k12.mn.us to reserve one of the available sewing machines!
  • Sparks Veterinary Adventures

    Alex Sommerfeld and FFA Students Incoming Grades 4-6 Sparks Veterinary Adventures is for incoming 4-6 grade students and is a beginner course into the world of veterinary medicine. Students will be introduced to animal handling and restraint, bandaging, suturing, injections, and nutrition. They will also have the opportunity to learn about basic anatomy/physiology, and diseases that are common in small animals. Participants should bring a water bottled and nut-free snack.

  • Sparks Golf Squad

    Golf Squad Incoming grades K-5 Golf Squad is for both new and continuing students and provides weekly opportunities for your child to learn the technical swing mechanics (i.e. putting, chipping, full swing, etc.) as well as the social skills required to enjoy golf, the clubs, and golf course (i.e. vocabulary, etiquette, rules, history, etc.) all under the instruction of an LPGA or PGA Professional. Golf is a very challenging and fun sport that can lead to college scholarships. So start early and start now...boys and girls! Even if your child already plays, it is great to enjoy weekly, convenient lessons from the pro.     Diana Berg Incoming Grades 1-5 Come and learn new skills in this jewelry making camp! Learn basic techniques using beads, wires, crimp beads, dangles, connectors and learn skills such as wire wrapping. Leave camp with a set of original pieces ready to wear or give!
  • Sparks Acrylic Painting

    Diana Berg Incoming Grades 1-5 Youth will create their very own masterpiece using acrylic paint on canvas! Projects include paint pouring, acrylic painting and sealing. Please wear old clothing in case youth get paint on them.
  • Sparks Volleyball Camp

    DASH Sports Incoming Grades 1-5 DASH Sports Summer Volleyball camps provide players with a well-rounded experience in a fun environment. Key volleyball skills such as passing, serving, and hitting will be taught and practiced throughout the week. Fun, volleyball skill specific games are also incorporated, giving players game type experience, and a better understanding of the game! The final day of camp ends with scrimmages and games for players to showcase their skills. Athletes should bring a water bottle and snack (knee pads optional). Balls are provided.

    Diana Berg Incoming Grades 1-5 Youth will learn the art of acrylic pour and create multiple pieces using variations of the acrylic pour technique! Please wear old clothing in case youth get paint on them.

  • Sparks Jr. NBA Basketball Camp

    DASH Sports Incoming grades 1-5 DASH Sports Jr. NBA basketball skills camps provide players a well-rounded basketball experience covering a broad range of skills training and skill-based games. Players will be taught how to properly shoot, pass, dribble, and play defense in a fun and positive environment. Camps end with scrimmages/games on the final day. Athletes should bring a water bottle. Balls are provided. OPTIONAL ADDITION: This camp offers a customized Jr. NBA jersey. Players will select their favorite NBA Team when registering as well as their name and number they'd like on their jersey.     Tech Academy Incoming Grades 1-4 Let the battles begin! Designed by the experts at MIT, LEGO® WeDo Robotics' unique system teaches students about simple machines, engineering, programming, and so much more. Students may construct a catapult, ninja star, tank, battle axe, crossbow, and more in this camp! Students will be working in pairs.

    Tech Academy Incoming Grades 1-4 Calling all young adventurers with a passion for storytelling and creativity! Our class is specially designed for young kids eager to dive into the exciting world of content creation on YouTube. Learn tricks that pro filmmakers use to create top 10 or favorite list videos. Edit your video, add transitions, insert a soundtrack. Then share your finished video with the world. Bring a USB drive (at least 8 GB) to save your games on the last day.
  • Mobile Game and App Development

    Tech Academy Incoming Grades 5-8 Learn about the exciting process of mobile app development with this hands-on class. We will work together to create our own Flappy Bird game from beginning to end. Students will use Constructs 3, a visual coding platform that teaches students the basics and structure of programming and game design. Computer skills are needed (this includes good keyboard and mouse skills). Bring a USB drive (at least 8 GB) to save your games on the last day.

  • Pokemania & STEAM Camp

    Tech Academy Incoming Grades 1-5 Work on a stop-motion animated Pokémon-themed film. Pick your favorite characters to star in your mini-movie. The possibilities are endless! Students will build Pokémon-inspired sets and props to create an animated game and stop-motion short. Students will also participate in other Pokémon-related STEAM activities. Bring a USB drive on the last day. Students should have basic reading skills.
  • Intro to Tennis Tykes

    DASH Sports Ages 4-7 DASH Sports Tennis Tykes camps provide participants with an introductory experience to the game in a fun and positive atmosphere. Emphasis is on technique and ball striking as well as gameplay. Basic elements of the serve, forehand, and backhand will be taught and practiced. Participants should bring a tennis racket, water bottle, athletic clothing. Parent participation is required for the 2-3yr old age group and recommended when needed for the 4+ year old age group.

    DASH Sports Grades 1-5 Phys. Ed Games Camp: DASH Sports Summer Phys. Ed Games camp provides participants with a fun experience learning and playing your favorite physical education games!     Kidcreate Studio Ages 5-12 Art is smart, and this camp proves it! During this camp we’ll explore S.T.E.A.M. (Science-Technology-Engineering-Art-Math) concepts in creative ways, resulting in fridge-worthy masterpieces, tons of experiential learning, and loads of messy fun. We’ll design our own mini playgrounds, learn about M.C. Escher and Picasso, make our own lava lamps, and more. This is no ordinary S.T.E.M. camp!   • Spanish Camp

    Ashley Boutelle and Lisa Bliss, FHS Spanish Teachers Incoming Grades K-5 Children will participate in fun activities, songs, and dances as well as games that encourage children to apply their new language skills. They will be exposed to various vocabulary such as foods, colors, greetings, commands, clothing, animals, and body parts. At the end of the camp, children will be provided with a hard copy of the vocab and grammar that was introduced as well as resources if they want to keep practicing at home. Please note that this is an interactive camp, not a formal pencil to paper class. Ashley has been a Spanish teacher for 11 years (8 years at FHS). She has also taught Spanish at the elementary level. She has her degree in Spanish K-12 and studied abroad in Costa Rica during college. Lisa has been teaching Spanish in Farmington for 16 years. She has her license in Elementary education and Spanish education. She studied abroad in Spain.
