Backyard Chickens in Farmington: From Permit to First Egg

Learn everything you need to start and sustain a healthy, legal flock—Farmington’s chicken permit rules, cold-hardy breeds for Minnesota winters, chick brooding, coop design, feeding, daily care, predator protection, and seasonal upkeep. By the end, you’ll have the knowledge and checklist to confidently raise 3–5 hens and keep your permit up to date.

With over four years of hands-on experience raising backyard chickens in Minnesota, Monica Joubert brings a wealth of practical knowledge and passion to this course. A dedicated animal husbandry enthusiast, Monica has cultivated a deep understanding of chicken care—from brooding store-bought chicks to winterizing coops in the harsh Midwestern climate.
