Sparks Technology and Science Summer Camps are designed for youth grades K-5+. Options include robotics, animal science, film production, coding, and more! Camps are typically M-Th 9-12 pm or 1-4 pm and take place throughout the summer.

Creepy, Crawly Creatures Camp
Technology and Science

Tracy Crofoot Grades K-5 Creepy, Crawly Creatures camp is a great summer activity for your nature enthusiast! Campers will go on a journey of discovery and learn about nature’s most undesirable creatures. They will learn about creatures that are often thought of as pests, but really are beneficial to our environment. Weather permitting, campers will get ‘back to nature’ by venturing outside making their own observations and discoveries just like a naturalist! We will be taking a survey of some species and reporting our findings to local scientists. Campers will learn more about becoming a Citizen Scientist and how they can contribute to conservation too.

Robotic Builders: Battlebots
Technology and Science

Tech Academy Incoming Grades 1-4 Let the battles begin! Designed by the experts at MIT, LEGO® WeDo Robotics' unique system teaches students about simple machines, engineering, programming, and so much more. Students may construct a catapult, ninja star, tank, battle axe, crossbow, and more in this camp! Students will be working in pairs.

Pokemania & STEAM Camp
Technology and Science

Tech Academy Incoming Grades 1-5 Work on a stop-motion animated Pokémon-themed film. Pick your favorite characters to star in your mini-movie. The possibilities are endless! Students will build Pokémon-inspired sets and props to create an animated game and stop-motion short. Students will also participate in other Pokémon-related STEAM activities. Bring a USB drive on the last day. Students should have basic reading skills.

Virtual Reality Coding

Tech Academy Incoming Grades 3-7 Design, develop, and create 3D Virtual Reality environments and characters to make your own 3D games and other virtual reality for kid’s projects on Metaverse new platform Hatch. Hatch is an incredibly fun and stimulating way to learn STEM! This class is ideal for individuals who are passionate about technology, coding, and want to explore the limitless possibilities of VR. VR programs can be viewed on most mobile phones, and VR Systems like oculus or google cardboard. Bring a USB drive to save your games on the last day.

Extreme Robotics: Battlebots
Technology and Science

Tech Academy Incoming Grades 3-7 This camp will energize and excite students by combining the LEGO® building system's versatility and the Mindstorms EV3 (the most sophisticated microcomputer brick ever made by LEGO®). Working each day in teams, students will construct fun LEGO® models, experiment with programs, and compete in robotic challenges. Robot building, block programming, and teamwork will be part of each day's activities. The final challenges will be centered around hitting targets and a sumo battle. Students will be working in small teams of 2-3.
