Farmington Community Education Tiger Preschool provides families with a variety of class options for your child's growth and development. Our learning, discovery, and growth curriculum closely aligns with Kindergarten readiness skills. Tiger Preschool is a Four-Star Parent Aware-rated program for children ages 3-5. LocationsAll day (6 hours/day) classes are available at Meadowview Elementary and The Tiger Legacy and Learning Center.Half day (2 1/2 hours/day) classes are held at Meadowview Elementary, The Tiger Legacy and Learning Center, Riverview Elementary and North Trail Elementary. Children can, but do not need to, attend preschool at the same elementary they plan to attend. Due to space limitations at schools, some locations are not able to offer a lot of classes, and we encourage you to look for an alternate location.CurriculumTiger Preschool will use the Minnesota Early Childhood Indicators of Progress and Creative Curriculum as a foundation to create a high-quality learning environment. Creative Curriculum improves Kindergarten readiness, supports the whole child, is research-based and field proven, and is aligned with early learning standards. In addition, children will be authentically assessed through observation using Teaching Strategies GOLD.What will my child learn?Social and Emotional – regulate emotions and behaviors including managing feelings, following time limits and expectations, and taking care of one’s own needs. Establishing and sustaining positive relationships with peers and adults including responding to emotional cues and making friends. Participates cooperatively and constructively in group situations, including balancing needs and rights of self and others and solving social problems.Literacy – literacy as a source of enjoyment, vocabulary and language, phonological awareness, knowledge of print, letters and words, comprehension, and books and other texts.Mathematics – number and operations, geometry and spatial sense, measurement, patterns (algebra), and data analysis.Science – the physical properties of objects and materials, characteristics of living things, and Earth’s environment.Social Studies – people and how they live, change related to people and places, and simple geography.The Arts – visual arts, music, dance and movement, and drama.Technology – tools and their basic operations and uses.Process Skills – observing and exploring, problem solving, connecting, organizing, communicating, and representing information.Integrating Learning Through Studies – exploring science and social studies by applying skills in order to answer questions that interest them.ConferencesTeacher and parent/guardian conferences are held two times per year. During this time, the teacher will share the child’s progress, Teaching Strategies GOLD assessment data, and samples of the child’s work.Tuition RequirementTiger Preschool is a tuition-based program with families being charged at the following rates: Full day (6 hour) Tiger Preschool rate: $42 per contracted dayHalf day (2 1/2 hour) Tiger Preschool rate: $21 per contracted dayTuition is due every other Monday, with one non-refundable $75 registration fee per school year. A non-refundable field trip fee will also be charged at the time of registration. The cost is $15/child in a half day program and $25/child in an all day program. Payments are due in full regardless of child illness or absence. Exceptions will be made for hospitalization. Payments are automatically deducted via credit/debit card.Remember: All students must be independent in the bathroom to register for Tiger Preschool. If your child is not yet independent, we kindly ask that you wait to register until they are ready. 3 year old classes Children who are 3 years old by September 1, 2025 but have not yet turned 4 should register for these classes. Classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays. 4 year old classes Children who are 4 or older by September 1, 2025 should register for these classes. Classes are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. 3-5 year old classes Families looking for a preschool opportunity Monday - Friday from 8AM - 2PM should register here. We will do our best to place children based on their age, as available.
